Enschede, Netherlands - September 4, 2025 - We are thrilled to announce that CarbSorbTec B.V. has been officially incorporated, marking a significant milestone in our journey to revolutionize biogas upgrading technology.
A New Chapter
CarbSorbTec emerges from years of groundbreaking research at the University of Twente, where our founding team discovered the exceptional potential of cation-exchanged clay materials for CO₂ capture. What started as fundamental research into clay-gas interactions has evolved into a commercially viable technology with the power to transform the biogas industry.
Our Mission
Our mission is clear: to provide the biogas industry with an energy-efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable solution for CO₂ removal. By leveraging natural clay materials and ambient operating conditions, we’re making biogas upgrading accessible to facilities of all sizes - from small agricultural digesters to large industrial plants.
The Technology
Our patented clay-based sorbent technology offers remarkable advantages:
- 35× higher selectivity for CO₂ over CH₄ compared to conventional methods
- Up to 6× lower energy consumption than membrane-based systems
- Ambient temperature and pressure operation - no complex infrastructure required
- Renewable and sustainable - based on abundant natural materials
Looking Ahead
With our incorporation complete, we’re now focused on scaling our technology from laboratory success to commercial reality. We’re actively pursuing pilot projects with biogas facilities across Europe and building partnerships with industry leaders.
We invite potential partners, customers, and investors to join us on this exciting journey. Together, we can accelerate the transition to sustainable biogas production and make a meaningful impact on global carbon emissions.
